Meet Our Staff

Mandy Huggard MSPT, ATC, CSCS Mandy Huggard MSPT, ATC, CSCS

Mandy Huggard is the owner and physical therapist at The Training Room. Mandy graduated with honors in 1994 from University of Florida with a Bachelor of Health Science degree in Rehabilitation. She continued on to University of Miami where, in 1996, she completed a Master's of Science degree in Physical Therapy.

While At University of Miami she interned with the nationally ranked Hurricane Football Program assisting in athletic coverage and rehabilitation for the athletes. Upon leaving University of Miami, Mandy worked with the world renowned orthopaedic surgeon James Andrews and physical therapist, Kevin Wilk in Birmingham, Alabama. As both a licensed physical therapist and athletic trainer, Mandy has treated patients from many professional organizations including the NBA, NFL, NFLEL, MLB, PGA, WTA, and WWF.

Mandy has lectured nationally on the topics of shoulder, knee, and elbow rehabilitation as well as, co-authored a chapter entitled Rehabilitation Concerns of the Upper Extremity in Dr. Mary Lloyd Ireland's book, The Female Athlete. Mandy specializes in the treatment of shoulder injuries including the overhead athlete along with prevention and rehabilitation of ACL injuries and she is currently working on her Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree. Her husband, Cary is the Co-Owner of Velocity Sports Performance.

Kiersten Langel, DPT, CSCS Kiersten Langel, DPT, CSCS

Kiersten Langel is a physical therapist and certified strength and conditioning specialist. Kiersten attended Haddonfield Memorial High School. She swam for her high school, where she was an All-American, and the Jersey Wahoos, where she was a Junior National Qualifier. In 2003, Kiersten graduated from Brown University, where she was a member of the varsity swim team.

After graduation, Kiersten wanted to combine her passion for sports and fitness with her interest in injury rehabilitation and prevention. Kiersten enrolled in Duke University's graduate program in Physical Therapy. While at Duke, Kiersten did a clinical rotation at Cincinnati Children's Hospital in their Sports Medicine department where she worked with their ACL prevention program. She also had the opportunity to spend time volunteering with the Assistant Physical Therapist to the Athletic Department, working closely with many student athletes. In May 2008 she graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

Kiersten enjoys working with athletes, as they move from initial injury to their return to sports. She has a special interest in treating injured swimmers using her expertise of swimming mechanics, combined with her education in physical therapy, to keep swimmers in the water and help them return to the previous level of competition.

Shaun Logan, DPT Shaun Logan, DPT

Shaun Logan, PT, DPT graduated with distinction from Drexel University with his Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2010. Prior to starting Drexel's physical therapy program, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology: Movement Science from Penn State University in 2007. While at Penn State, Shaun decided to pursue a career in physical therapy due to his life long passion for sports.

Growing up, Shaun played travel team soccer, baseball, basketball, and wrestling. Shaun attended Washington Township High School, where he played football and lacrosse. Shaun was a captain of the inaugural men's lacrosse team at Washington Township in 2003. Shaun has returned to WTHS as a volunteer assistant lacrosse coach for the varsity boy’s team in 2008 and 2011.

Shaun enjoys providing treatment and education for athletes and patients of all ages and levels of ability, from children to professionals. He strives to not only return athletes to their previous level of competition, but to improve upon their previous level with a better understanding of their own body. Shaun also has interests in concussion rehabilitation and looks to continue to grow the program at the Training Room.

As Shaun's career progresses, he is working towards obtaining a Specialist Certification in Sports. Shaun has a strong interest in teaching and research within the field of physical therapy. He has also returned to Drexel University as an assistant in teaching orthopedics and plans to continue with this more in the future.

 

Rachel King, DPT Rachel King, DPT

Rachel King is the newest member of the Training Room family. Hailing from Abington, PA, Rachel graduated from Abington Senior High School in 2002, participating in lacrosse, volleyball, and receiving a Varsity letter as a member of the competitive cheerleading squad. Rachel then received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Gwynedd Mercy College in Gwynedd Valley, PA in 2006. While at Gwynedd Mercy, Rachel equally balanced her studies and extracurricular activities as a 4-year defensive starter and 2 year captain on the Women's Lacrosse team, receiving All-Pac Honors her junior and senior year; as well as a 2 year captain of Gwynedd Mercy's dance team, performing as a part of the Sixers pre-game show under her leadership. Rachel also had the prestigious honor of being part of the Sigma Zeta and Sigma Phi Sigma honor societies as well as being Student Government President her senior year.

With her deep passion for sports and helping others, Rachel decided on the advice of her father, to pursue physical therapy as a career. In 2006, Rachel enrolled in Temple University's physical therapy program. While at Temple, Rachel participated in an a outpatient-sports medicine rotation at Trinity Wellness Center in Raleigh, NC in which she worked closely with the director of the clinic with a patient population focused on sports rehabilitation and preventative care; as well as shadowing the director as he treated and developed rehab programs for the NC State track team. Rachel graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy in May of 2009. Prior to joining The Training Room, Rachel worked in Virginia at Professional Sports Care and Rehab.

Rachel has coached both collegiate and high school lacrosse, and currently serves as a coach for Mastery Charter's inaugural competitive cheerleading squad in Philadelphia, PA. It is Rachel's caring nature and understanding of the sports athlete that has led to her love and enjoyment of working with patients of all ages to educate them and promote awareness on preventative care. Her goals are to pursue further education and knowledge to aid her patients in the best way possible by becoming an orthopedic, manual therapy, or sports clinical specialist in order to become a better rounded therapist. Rachel is excited to learn and grow as a therapist at the Training Room, surrounded by the talents of her fellow therapists, and giving the best care to all of our patients.
